About Western Red Cedar
Western red cedar cladding is a highly regarded choice for projects that require both visual appeal and reliable performance. Known for its rich colour variations and distinctive grain, it offers a natural finish that suits a wide range of architectural styles.
Western cedar is a versatile timber species. Its natural ability to repel moisture, together with its inherent decay / insect resistant properties, have made red cedar a popular choice of timber for many centuries. Cedar timber is easy to cut, drill and fix, and is a significantly lighter timber than most hard and soft hardwoods.
While the appeal and longevity of western red cedar make it an ideal choice for exterior cladding, it is also an extremely stable material. It has one of the lowest warping and shrinkage factors of any exterior material, thereby eliminating any possibility of irregular gaps or curves. Red cedar cladding can be installed horizontally and/or vertically. Profiles can be cut to allow for a flush finish or the traditional overlap.
Within our wider cladding & landscaping range, cedar sits within the cladding by timber category. Customers can also explore larch cladding and Frake noir cladding for alternative finishes and tones.
Red cedar remains a popular choice for domestic and commercial construction projects, offering a balance of durability, stability, and visual appeal for exterior design.
